Hyde Sails will be exhibiting at the United States Boat Show, which starts October 7th in Annapolis, Maryland.

Hyde will be represented by the company's North American distributor, Scott Steele, who was appointed last year. The United States Sailboat Show celebrates its 41st Anniversary this year and is recognised as the best and biggest in the industry for new, in-water sailboats.

Operating from his office in Annapolis, Maryland, Scott Steele is the central hub for Hyde's network in North America. An Olympic Silver medalist, Scott has been sailing since he learned to walk, achieving widespread success, winning numerous dinghy and keelboat events.

You can meet Scott and various other members of the Hyde Sails team, including Hyde's Sales and Marketing Director Richard Franks, as well as loft owners from around the country coming from San Diego, Florida, New York, Charleston and Texas at Stand S8.

The Annapolis Show runs from October 7-11, 2010.

Hyde Sails Victorious at J22 Mid Atlantic Championships

Scott Steele made a triumphant return to racing this summer by winning the J22 Mid Atlantic Championships held on the Chesapeake Bay (Annapolis, Md). Severn Sailing Association hosted the event in 8-10 knots dying off as the day went on. Steele steered "Emma J" in the talent laden fleet with a low score of 10 points, 3 better than runner-up John Loe. Several in the fleet were preparing for a trip to the J22 North American's held the next week where two of the Mid Atlantic skippers posted top 5 results. Owner, Ian Jones served as trimmer on 'Emma J"while Bob Keene worked the foredeck. The crew posted finishes of 2,2,3 to clinch the victory on Sunday. The new Hyde sails on the boat were clearly working exceptionally well as Steele was able to easily keep his lane off the line using height and speed to his advantage. Steele said they didn't have high expectations against the high powered talent as he had not sailed this year in competitive events and had not sailed with Ian and Bob all year. Steele felt the sails proved themselves in their initial foray into the class and plans to compete with them in the J22 East Coast Championships in mid-September.

HYDE SAILS SECOND AT 2010 J24 NORTHEAST REGIONALS
Following a victory in 2009, "Spoilsport" skippered by Stu Challoner sailed his Hyde Sail powered J24 to a terrific finish at the 2010 Northeast Regionals. 4 races were held on Saturday and 3 on Sunday in breezes ranging from 0-5 to 15-20... Saturday saw breeze from the SW of
10-20 and proved to be a tuner's day as it never looked as windy as it
felt. With 1.2 mile legs it proved to be a boat speed test and at days
end it was Q's Tim Healy on top with Stu and Kurt Reynolds tied for 2nd.
Sunday brought dying shifty Northwest breeze and a new course location that challenged even the best tactitions with velocity variations of 15 kts
and shifts of 20+ degrees. After a hard fought 3rd in the first race
Sunday, and Tim Healy right behind us in 4th, it was apparent we couldn't win unless we posted 2 bullets and he tanked two races so our attentions turned to securing 2nd. Using fleet management and excellent boatspeed and height, we were able to hold off Kurt and and Al Constance of Blitz, which we did!
In the end it was Healy (Quantum), Challoner(Hyde), Constance (North) and Wilsey
and Weideke 4th and 5th (both Ullman).

This 2nd qualifies Stu for the 2011 worlds in Argentina.

Comments from the trimmer: "We had great speed upwind and pretty good height with everyone except Tim where we could match him but not exceed his angles, that says to me
we're good as there is only so high one can point before you're pinching. Downwind, the big H kite kept us up front the entire weekend.... God I love these sails!"

Hydesails at Key West Race Week

Hyde Gulf Coast introduced their one design Sprint 750 sails at Key West Race Week. Team Hyde raced 'Strategy V', owned & driven by Cliff Farrah. The third place finish was a good start and expectations are very high in the future as the crew work together and gather more experience. While turnout for the regatta was smaller than expected, the facilities were outstanding and the organizers did a tremendous job running the event. Racing was fun, the race committee was excellent, and had an amazing drive to do the best they could possibly do by having debriefs every afternoon. Look for 'Strategy V' in the One Design Sprint 750 class at Sailing World's St. Petersburg NOOD

An Olympic Silver medallist, Scott has been sailing since he learnt to walk, achieving widespread success, including skippering a 3/4 tonner in the worlds aged just 16, and winning numerous dinghy and keelboat events.

Hyde J/24 wins North-eastern regionals

The Hyde Sails-powered J/24 takes regional championship in Marblehead, USA.

'SpoilSport', skippered by Stuart Challoner, beat 16 other boats to win the 2009 J/24 Northeast Regional Championship hosted by the Corinthian YC of Marblehead, Massachusetts.

The event started with a strong 18-25 knot northwesterly and choppy seas, providing challenging and fun conditions for a talented group of racers. Three races were held on Saturday with 1.2 mile windward/leeward legs. 'SpoilSport' dominated the day with two seconds and a first. Other notable competitors were Mike Ingham sailing a new Italian boat who finished the day with two firsts and a sixth and Will Welles sailing 'Paraloc' who finished third on the day.

Sunday brought completely different conditions with a southwesterly breeze of 6-12 knots and flat seas. Two races were run in slightly shifty conditions. Will Welles and team posted a first and a third, but 'SpoilSport' sailed very conservatively, making sure to keep close to their competition, and posted a fourth and a second place to win the regatta.
